PHENOMENAL PITCHING
The Mountain Lions began MEC action 3-1 after a stellar performance inside the circle. In its opening four games, CU only allowed six runs across four games including a pair of shutouts. Freshman pitcher/utility Mahailey Nicholson pitched five shutout innings to earn the victory in game one against West Virginia State and struck out a career-high six. In game one against Charleston, junior pitcher/infielder Madison Hollis tossed a complete game shutout while surrendering only four hits with three punch outs. Sophomore pitcher Josi Ervin followed up Hollis' performance with a complete game shutout of her own, only giving up two hits and fanning two UC hitters. It was the first sweep over Charleston since the 2019 season, and the first doubleheader shutout since CU shut down Bluefield State last March.

BIG TIME BATS
Concord scored eight runs in its first four conference games with six runs batted in. Junior outfielder Alina Giles drove in the lone RBI in the 3-2 game one win over WVSU while junior infielder Lacie Lewis, senior infielder Courtney Raines, and Hollis collected RBI in game two against the Yellow Jackets. However, it was sophomore infielder Kendall Morgan that had the most clutch performance against Charleston. The King George, Va. native drove in the only two runs scored against the Golden Eagles in a pair of 1-0 victories. She struck early in game one, giving the Mountain Lions a 1-0 advantage in the first inning and let the pitching staff dominate the rest of the way. Then, in game two, Morgan broke the scoring silence with an RBI single in the third inning for her 10th run batted in of the season.

RECENT MEETINGS
The Maroon and Gray split the season series 2-2 with both Davis & Elkins and West Virginia Wesleyan in 2024 with CU sweeping the Senators in Athens and going 1-1 at home and on the road against the Bobcats. Raines led CU with four RBI against D&E last season while Lewis added a three-hit game and Morgan crushed a two-run homerun at the CU Softball Field. Against WVWC, Hollis only gave up one run across six innings of work on the road and Ervin punched out five while giving up two earned runs in while pitching all seven innings in Athens. Morgan led the offensive charge against West Virginia Wesleyan as well, driving in four runs while adding a triple and a double.
