WHEELING, W.Va. – Freshman guard
Josiah Rickards of the Concord University men's basketball team has been tabbed to the Mountain East Conference All-Tournament Team, the conference office announced late Sunday night after the conclusion of the MEC Tournament.
Rickards averaged 21 points in two games, helping lead the Mountain Lions to a second straight MEC Tournament Semifinal appearance. Rickards shot 65.2 percent (15-for-23) from the floor and 71.4 percent (10-for-14) from the foul line at WesBanco Arena. Rickards posted a career-high 19 points in CU's 92-84 victory over West Virginia State in the quarterfinal round. The Chesapeake, Virginia native added six rebounds. He backed it up with another career best of 23 points against nationally-ranked and top seed West Liberty in the semifinals.
Rickards' scoring average of 21 points per game was the highest for any player at the MEC Tournament that played in at least two games.
With Rickards' selection to the all-tournament team, it marked the fourth straight season that Concord has had a player on the All-MEC Tournament Team.
