Concord Improves MEC Marks at Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Concord University men's track & field team wrapped up action at the Liberty Open Saturday evening after two days of competition at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.

The top performance for CU came in the 400-meter dash as senior Ian Gardner clocked a season-best time of 49.22 seconds in the event. He finished fifth as he was only one second off his career-best time. Additionally, Gardner's time is third in the Mountain East Conference this year.

In the 5,000-meter run, senior Logan Zuchelli clocked a time of 15:04.44 to finish eighth. Sophomore Bramley Childress ran a personal-record time of 15:41.34 to place 19th.

Sophomore Braden Ward crossed the tape in a career-best time of 8:42.25 in the 3,000-meter run as he finished 10th, and in the process clocked the 10th-fastest time in the event in the conference this winter.

Freshman Garrett Kinder popped off a career-best time of 1:57.72 in the 800-meter run to vault up to seventh in the MEC.

The quartet of senior Ethan Board, Gardner, Kinder and freshman Brady Prior ran a season-best time of 3:24.07 in the 4x400-meter relay. They placed sixth.

In the high jump, freshman Tobi Adebulu cleared 1.70 meters to place 11th.
