NEXT MAN UP
The Mountain Lions have been without senior forward Amare Smith, who has started 16 games this year, for three games, and were without junior forward Ken Sallee (averaging 7.8 points per game) Wednesday in Wednesday's 98-84 victory over Salem. But, it didn't stop the CU bench from scoring 30 or more points for the fifth time in the last seven games as the Concord reserves netted 32 points against Salem. Sophomore guard Georges Archer tallied 12 point which was two shy of his season best. Archer needed just four shots (3-for-4) to score his 12 points. He added a 4-for-4 showing at the foul line. Redshirt freshman guard Brendan Hoffman scored a career-best 10 points versus Salem as he hit on three three-pointers in four attempts. Hoffman had previously been 0-for-7 from three-point range this season. Archer and Hoffman each played 17 minutes in the win over Salem.

SECOND-HALF SURGE
After scoring 42 points and shooting a respectable 44.4 percent from the field in the first half of Wednesday's win, CU found another gear in the second half. The Maroon and Gray shot 61.1 percent and recorded 56 points after halftime. On the season, Concord is averaging 46.2 points in the second half as opposed to 40.4 points in the first halves of games. And the Mountain Lions have shot 50 percent or better in the second half of 12 games this season. The 56 points that CU scored Wednesday in the second half was the second-highest scoring half of the winter. Individually, senior guard Corey Boston netted 10 of his 18 points after halftime. Junior guard Kollin Tolbert added 10 of his 22 points in the second half versus Salem. And Archer scored 10 of his 12 in the second 20 minutes.

ONE MAN CREW
Tolbert notched his first double-double of the season, and the seventh of his career in the win over Salem as he went for 22 points and 10 rebounds. He added a team-best four assists. It was the first time this season that a Concord player led the Mountain Lions in points, rebounds and assists in the same game. Tolbert now leads the MEC in scoring at 20.5 points per game which is also top 30 in Division II. Tolbert is also top 10 in the MEC in rebounding (ninth/6.5), assists (ninth/3.3), field-goal percentage (third/51.2) and free-throw percentage (fourth/86.2). Over his last six games, Tolbert is averaging 26.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per contest. Furthermore, Tolbert is shooting 59.5 percent from the field (50-of-84), 57.1 percent from three-point range (20-of-35) and 88.1 percent from the foul line (37-of-42) over that stretch.

REBOUNDING WAR
The two best rebounding teams in the MEC meet Saturday afternoon. Point Park is outrebounding teams by an average of 14.3 boards per game which is first in Division II. However, by taking away the four non-Division II schools PPU has played, the Pioneers only have a rebounding margin of 8.0. Meanwhile, Concord is 14th in Division II in rebounding margin (7.1), and has outrebounded 14 opponents this winter. Point Park counts on Fisher Nazareth (11.2) and Aiden Miller (9.0) to gather up more than 20 of its 45 rebounds per game. The duo is the top two rebounders in the MEC. The Mountain Lions count on multiple players to go rebound. While Tolbert is ninth in rebounding, junior forward Rene Diop is 15th in the MEC (6.0) and freshman forward Kraig Gilbert is 17th (5.8). PPU outrebounded Concord 49-43 in December, but CU held the Pioneers to 31 percent shooting in an 88-69 victory.

LET IT FLY
In defeating Point Park by nearly 20 points December 4, the Mountain Lions hit 12 three-pointers while shooting 52.2 percent from beyond the arc. For a large chunk of the season, it was CU's season high in three-pointers before canning 16 triples versus Wheeling January 18. Rickards came off the bench and nailed three three-pointers. Gilbert and Sallee both had two three-pointers. CU has made nine or more three-pointers in six of the last seven games, including making double-digit triples in three consecutive contests. Concord is first in the MEC in three-point percentage (38.3) while Point Park is 11th in the conference in three-point defense (37.6). The Pioneers are giving up 9.1 three-pointers per game which is the second most in the MEC. PPU is making 9.1 three-pointers game, but is going up against a CU defense that allows the second-fewest three-pointers made per game in the league (6.5).

GOOD vs. GOOD
Concord's offense has been firing on all cylinders since the turn of the calendar to 2025. The Mountain Lions have shot 50 percent or better in eight of their last 10 games, including over 50 percent in all five games of their current winning streak. CU has assumed the MEC lead in field-goal percentage after trailing Fairmont State and Charleston for much of the season. The Maroon and Gray is hitting 48 percent of their shots this winter which is top 50 in Division II. Concord is on pace for its best offensive season since the early 1990s. CU's 88.8 points per game would be the most since the 1989-90 Mountain Lions averaged 90.2 points per game. Concord is also 12th in Division II in points per game. Point Park is fourth in the conference in field-goal defense (42.8) and is giving the third-fewest points per game in the MEC (77.6).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
10- Rebounds by sophomore forward Boubacar Djigo in the first game versus Point Park this season, one of three double-digit rebounding games this winter for Djigo.

15- Consecutive shots made by Diop before two straight misses against Salem. He is shooting 80.9 percent over his last four games.

1200- Concord needs one more win to reach 1,200 victories as a program. CU would become the fourth MEC school to rack up 1,200 wins.
