BREAKOUT GAME
Freshman pitcher/utility Mahailey Nicholson picked up her first career win in the circle in game two versus Belmont Abbey last Friday. The Newton, W.Va. native started in the second game of the twinbill and tossed all seven innings, surrendering three earned runs and striking out five Crusaders' hitters. Additionally, she allowed 11 hits but only walked on batter, forcing BAC to leave eight runners on base. All of her runs given up came after the fourth inning, as CU never trailed in the second game. On the season, Nicholson sports a 4.57 earned run average and has struck out 11 hitters across 15.1 innings pitched.

TEAM EFFORT
After being limited to just one run in game one against Belmont Abbey, the Mountain Lions responded by jumping ahead early in game two and grinded out a 4-3 win. Everyone pitched in for the Concord offense, as no player logged more than one RBI. Senior infielder Courtney Raines hit an RBI single in the first to get CU on the board. Then, junior catcher/utility Morgan Gleason and freshman utility Blake Jamerson drove in runs in back-to-back plate appearances in the second. Freshman pitcher/outfielder Reghan Hintz tacked on an insurance run in the sixth frame to cap off the doubleheader split. On the season, junior infielder Lacie Lewis (10) and sophomore infielder Kendall Morgan (5) have combined to drive in 15 of the Maroon and Gray's 29 runs.

MOST RECENT MEETINGS
While CU did not face off against Emory & Henry or King last spring, the Mountain Lions played both teams in the 2023 season. King took both games of the doubleheader, with Lewis and Gleason picking up hits in game two of the series. Concord swept both games against E&H two seasons ago, with Raines driving in the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh in game one for a 1-0 victory. In game two, Lewis went 3-for-3 at the dish with an RBI and a run scored.
