Concord Named in First Release of NCAA Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – The Concord University men's basketball team has been listed in the first release of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Rankings that was unveiled Wednesday afternoon.

The first regional rankings release only list teams in alphabetical order.

The ten teams listed in the original rankings are California (Pa.), Concord, East Stroudsburg, Fairmont State, Fayetteville State, Gannon, Shepherd, Virginia State, West Chester and West Liberty.

The NCAA Regional Rankings is what assists in selection for the NCAA Tournament. At the end of conference tournament week, three automatic bids from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Mountain East Conference and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference along with five at-large bids from the aforementioned conferences advance from the Atlantic Region to the NCAA Tournament.

The next two rankings will order teams in a ranking fashion before the NCAA Division II Selection Show March 9.

CU is seeking its second straight NCAA Tournament, a feat that has not been accomplished in program history—and was never done in CU's NAIA era (prior to 1993-94).

Concord is on the road for a 7:30 p.m. start time against Wheeling Wednesday.
