BLAZING BAT
Junior infielder Lacie Lewis carried her momentum from opening weekend into the doubleheader against California (Pa.) Sunday as she went 6-for-8 at the dish with a pair of extra base hits and six runs batted in. She stepped up to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the seventh in game one and crushed a three-run walk-off home run to give CU its first win of the season. Then, she followed her game one heroics with a 4-for-4 performance, adding a double and driving in three more RBI in the process. Lewis leads Concord with a .588 batting average and was named Mountain East Conference Player of the Week.

SHUT 'EM DOWN
Lewis wasn't the only Mountain Lion to show out against the Vulcans, as sophomore pitcher Josi Ervin earned MEC Pitcher of the Week to sweep the weekly award in favor of CU. In game one, Ervin pitched all seven innings and picked up the win in the circle after allowing just one earned run and fanning five hitters. She also hit ninth in the lineup, collecting two base hits and scoring a run. In game two, the Lewisburg, W.Va. native found herself in the leadoff spot in the lineup. While she did not log a base hit in the game, she reached base twice and came around to score both times.

ALL ABOUT THE WEATHER
The Mountain Lions and Crusaders saw similar circumstances surrounding their games last year, with a doubleheader between the two being canceled due to weather in the suburban Charlotte area in February 2024. This season, the games were originally scheduled to be played on the CU Softball Field, but have been moved to the campus of Belmont Abbey due to weather. CU and Belmont Abbey have met twice before on the diamond, with the series being tied 1-1. In the most recent meeting, Concord took down the Crusaders 5-3 in Greenwood, S.C. on December 15, 2020.
