SALEM, Va. – The Concord University men's track & field team was stellar in competition at the Bast-Cregger Invite Friday and Saturday on the campus of Roanoke College.
Freshman
Luke Davis was the top performer for the Mountain Lions as he set the school record in the heptathlon. No previous record had been established in the prior to Davis scoring 4,132 points in the seven-event sequence.
Davis placed fifth in the overall scoring, and in the process moved up to second in the Mountain East Conference. He scored at least 640 points in four of the seven events, including 723 points in the 60-meter hurdles (7.47 seconds) and 679 points in the high jump (1.86 meters).

Braden Ward clocked 10:57.75 which was good enough for third.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Concord recorded a season-best time of 3:34.25 with the foursome of senior
Ethan Board, Kinder, sophomore
AJ Skeens and Ward combining in the performance. They finished fourth.
Senior
Ian Gardner placed seventh in the 400-meter dash in a showing of 51.17 seconds which is now seventh in the MEC. Sophomore
Andrew Tickle was seventh in the 3,000-meter run in a career-best time of 9:06.76.
In other distance events, senior
Zach Wilson clocked 16:38.25 in the 5,000-meter run to finish 11
th. Sophomore
Wes Holcomb placed 17
th, crossing the tape in 17:31.58 which was 17
th.
Sophomore
Garrett Hatcher ran a personal-record time of 4:45.30 in the mile to place 18
th.
Concord returns to competition Friday at the Liberty Open.
