Concord Places 17th at Regional Championship

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Concord University women's cross country team placed 17th at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championship Saturday morning at West Branch Cross Country Course.

The Mountain Lions improved four spots from last season's finish at the regional championship as they scored 477 points.

Davis & Elkins was the regional champion with a total of 58 points. East Stroudsburg and Edinboro also advanced out of the Atlantic Region and onto the NCAA Division II National Championship.

Freshman Violet Wall was CU's top finisher as she crossed 53rd in a time of 22:50 for the 6,000-meter course. It was the sixth-fastest time for any Mountain Lion on the course at Lock Haven in program history.

Senior Katy Walkup wrapped up her cross country career by finishing 83rd with a showing of 23:27. Junior Sara Turner scored a top-100 finish in the field of 167 by finishing 94th. She crossed in 23:41.

Sophomore Kate Kelly ran 24:20. Junior Charlotte McGinnis checked in at 25:36 as Concord's final scoring runner. Junior Piper Doughton ran 26:00 while fellow junior Abbey Londeree sported a tiem of 26:14.

Saturday wrapped up the fall cross country season for Concord.
