LAST TIME OUT
The Concord men finished fourth at the Mountain East Conference Championship two weeks ago. Junior Braden Ward earned All-MEC First Team for the first time in his career by placing sixth. Junior AJ Skeens just missed an All-MEC Second Team accolade by finishing 21st. Sophomore Brandon Canaday continued his strong campaign with a 24th-place showing at the MEC Championship. Fellow sophomore Reese Hickey was 35th. Junior Bramley Childress placed 41st. Freshman Johnny Walkup and junior Andrew Tickle rounded out the top seven for CU.

Freshman Violet Wall led the Mountain Lion women by earning All-MEC First Team with a ninth-place finish. She was also named the MEC Freshman of the Year as the top freshman finisher at the conference meet. Junior Sara Turner was Concord's number two runner as she finished 37th. Freshman Avery Lilly (40th), senior Katy Walkup (44th) and junior Charlotte McGinnis (55th) completed the scoring for CU. The Mountain Lions finished seventh as a team at the MEC Championship.

ATLANTIC REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
The top three teams on Saturday advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship November 22, as well as the top two individuals on a non-qualifying team.

The Mountain Lion men are expected to be in the mix as they have been as high as number four in the regional coaches' poll this fall. In the latest rankings, CU was 10th. Concord finished fourth last season as a team. Ward just missed all-region honors by placing 27th—the top 25 are All-Atlantic Region. He covered the course at Lock Haven in 31:21. Childress ran arguably one of the best races in his career at LHU last fall with a showing of 31:58 and a 44th-place finish. Tickle (83rd) and Skeens (98th) also have experience at Lock Haven from last season. Dating back to 2015, Concord has had at least one all-region athlete on the men's side.

Walkup was CU's top finisher at last year's Atlantic Region Championship as she placed 52nd. Sophomore Kate Kelly ran 24:00 for the 6,000-meter course. Turner finished in 24:29. McGinnis ran 25:31. Junior Abbey Londeree sported a time of 26:48. Concord seeks to improve upon 15th and 21st-place finishes each of the last two years.
