INDIANAPOLIS – The Concord University volleyball team has made an appearance in the first set of Atlantic Region Rankings that were announced Wednesday afternoon.
The first of three releases of regional rankings only list team in alphabetical with 10 teams from the Atlantic Region getting a mention. These rankings determine the teams selected for the NCAA Division II Tournament.
At season's end, three automatic qualifiers in tournament champions from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Mountain East Conference and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference along with top five at-large teams advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament from the Atlantic Region.
Concord is 19-6 on the season, seeking its first 20-win season since the 2002 season. However, Tuesday's defeat at West Virginia Wesleyan was not factored into Wednesday's rankings.
The teams ranked by the NCAA Wednesday included Concord, East Stroudsburg, Fairmont State, Gannon, Indiana (Pa.), Pitts-Johnstown, Seton Hill, Shepherd, Shippensburg and Wheeling.
The Mountain Lions host Charleston, the MEC South Division leader, 7:00 p.m. Friday inside the Carter Center.
