BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – For the third time this season, junior libero
Allie Davis of the Concord University volleyball team has been selected as the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the league office released Monday afternoon.
Davis, a native of Jonesborough, Tennessee, racked up 42 digs over seven sets of play for the Mountain Lions to close the regular season.
In Concord's three-set win over Davis & Elkins, Davis notched 16 digs. She added three assists as the victory was CU's 20
th of the season—the first 20-win season for the program since 2002.
Davis added 26 digs in four sets of action at Glenville State Friday night. The 26 digs for CU's three-year staring libero were the second highest of the season.
With Monday's announcement, Davis is the only player in the MEC to be named conference offensive or defensive player of the week three times this fall.
West Liberty setter Dakoda Keni was pegged MEC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Mountain Lions square off with West Liberty in the MEC Quarterfinals 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Rockefeller Center on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan.Â
