WELCOME BACK
West Liberty returns to Callaghan Stadium for the second time in just 11 days on Wednesday night. CU came away with a 2-1 in the second of two regular-season meetings, 2-1, November 1. While CU had slightly more chances, it was a very evenly matched affair with goals from senior forward Malher Santi Possu and junior forward Jaden McKree proving to be the difference. Both the season (1-1) and the all-time series (7-7-1) between these two sides are tied, so a win here would be crucial in the head-to-head and more importantly, to send a team to the MEC Championship game.

THE MAGIC NUMBER
CU is undefeated when they score two or more goals in a match, racking up a 9-0 record when Mountain Lions record multiple goals in a game. With Concord offense nearly unbeatable when scoring twice in a game, the CU defense deserves recognition as the Maroon and Gray has allowed more than one goal three times in 2025. The backline has been anchored by junior defender Zakari Messam and senior defender Ted Roberts at the fullback spots. The central defense pair of junior Santiago Lopez and senior Erik Lotysz were not inserted into the lineup the seventh game of the year. Concord's +21 goal differential is second best in the MEC. Under head coach Alex Smith, the Mountain Lions are 30-0-2 when scoring two or more goals dating back to the start of the 2023 season.

TURNING BACK THE CLOCK
This is Concord's third time in program history making the MEC Semifinals and the second straight year that they get to host it at Callaghan Stadium. In 2024, Concord battled Davis & Elkins in a shootout. The Mountain Lions edged out the Senators in a 6-4 game, which broke the record for the highest scoring MEC Tournament game in history. Possu netted himself the opening goal just 33 seconds into the match and senior forward Richard Henry picked up three assists in the contest. With a win over West Liberty, Concord would advance to the MEC Championship Game for the second straight year.

TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW
On the other side of the bracket, Davis & Elkins defeated Frostburg State on the road to advance to the MEC Semifinals. The Senators have the number one seed in the tournament and all of Division II, the Charleston Golden Eagles waiting. The highest remaining seed from both semifinal games will host the Championship on Sunday.

SCOUTING THE WEST LIBERTY HILLTOPPERS
The Hilltoppers are coming off of an upset win in the MEC Quarterfinals. West Liberty went on the road to Pittsburgh, Pa. and blanked third seeded Point Park, 3-0. Sophomore attacking midfielder Travis Scandlis has been red hot to end the season and into postseason play. He has recorded at least a point in each of the last five matches, totaling three goals and three assists over that span. Senior forward Alex Watt is tied with Scandlis for the team lead with six goals and has scored in back-to-back matches. Despite giving up more shots in the victory over PPU, sophomore keeper Shai'ya Henry made six big saves in the shutout.
