ON THE CUSP OF TWENTY WINS
Concord still has a chance to clinch a 20-win season for the first time since 2002 and with two wins to close out the season, CU will reach 21 wins for the first time since 1995. In 2024, the Mountain Lions had their best conference season in the MEC, racking up nine wins. This year's team can tie that same 9-6 clip if they win out in the regular season.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
With the MEC Tournament getting underway in just 10 days (Nov. 20), Concord is currently sitting fourth in the MEC South. Charleston is atop the standings with a 10-3 MEC record, the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats are a game back, and West Virginia State is a game behind them in third. The Mountain Lions will comfortably qualify for the tournament, but the seeding is yet to be determined. The location of the tournament has not yet been deciphered as both UC and Wheeling hold 10-3 conference records. The team with the best conference record, regardless of division, will host the entire event.
SUCCESS AGAINST THE SENATORS
The Mountain Lions have really gotten the better of Davis & Elkins in recent years. CU has tallied eight straight victories over the Senators, with six of those eight coming in the form of a sweep. Their earlier meeting in 2025, saw Concord break out the brooms against D&E with set scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-23. Junior outside hitter Meg Williams finished with a double-double, amassing 12 kills and 13 digs. Fellow junior outside hitter
Chloe Thompson also notched 12 kills in the victory. Junior libero
Allie Davis ended the match with 19 digs.
X-FACTOR
Throughout the season, Concord has found a big spark from sophomore right side Maddie Stull. Stull is up to 2.00 kills per set and hits at an efficient .199. After seeing rotational playing time in her freshman campaign, Stull has started in 24 of 26 games in 2025. The Princeton, W.Va. native also gets involved on the defensive end, tacking on 0.71 blocks per set. Concord is 8-0 in matches when Stull has 10 or more kills.
SCOUTING THE DAVIS AND ELKINS SENATORS
The Senators have had a tough go of it in 2025. They are winless on the season and have just won a pair of sets all year. D&E has played really hard and showed some promise in their home match against the Mountain Lions. Senior right side Melisa Ozsar is the name to watch offensively, averaging just shy of two kills per set.
SCOUTING THE GLENVILLE STATE PIONEERS
Glenville State has been a tough out for most teams. Coming off of a heartbreaking five-set loss against West Virginia Wesleyan, the Pioneers have challenged some of the premier squads in the MEC. GSU currently holds a 12-16 record, which is much improved from their 3-25 clip from a season ago. The Pioneers are led by the outside hitting duo of Kaiya Lian and Keleigh Chrisman who average 2.20 and 1.95 kills per set respectively.Â
