Concord Moves Up to Fourth at MEC Championship

DANIELS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's golf team is in fourth after completion of the second round of the Mountain East Conference Championship at the Cobb Course at the Resort at Glade Springs Tuesday afternoon.

CU safely made the cut with a two-day score of 779 (392, 387). The cut was at 830 with Wheeling in sixth place. Concord is one stroke ahead of Davis & Elkins for fourth place.

Freshman Kendra Lugo carded an 82 Tuesday which places her in a tie for 13th with a two-day score of 173. Though no red numbers on the scorecard in the second round, Lugo played clean on the front nine with a five-hole stretch of pars, three through seven. She finished the back nine with three consecutive pars on 15, 16 and 17.

Sophomore Sara Matos Tamargo was a riser up the leaderboard as she moved a spot into 19th after a round of 95. Her two-round total is 191. Freshman Reagan Friel carded a 103 Tuesday and is in 25th with a total of 205. Sophomore Alexandria Denny is 26th with a total of 210 (106, 104).

Charleston has a comfortable lead of nearly 30 strokes (627-654) on Glenville State for the top spot. UC's Mari Filippa Larsen is in first by six strokes with a two-day score of 150.

Third and final round play is Wednesday at the MEC Championship.
