LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Concord University women's cross country team placed 35
th at the Greater Louisville Classic Saturday morning at EP Tom Sawyer Park.
The Mountain Lions were fourth among Division II teams and 27
th among non-Division I schools. CU scored 864 points as 46 teams competed in the race.
In a field of more than 400 athletes, freshman
Violet Wall finished 47
th in a time of 23:02 for the 6,000-meter course. Senior
Katy Walkup was in the top 150 of the meet, crossing in 24:14 which was 139
th.
Like Wall, freshman
Avery Lilly was making her debut for 6,000-meters. The Hinton, West Virginia native ran 24:52. Sophomore
Kate Kelly sported a time of 25:12. And junior
Charlotte McGinnis was the fifth and final scoring runner for CU in 26:26.
Junior
Piper Doughton came through in 26:58.
Up next is the Concord Alumni Invite at Pipestem State Park October 10.
