WHEELING, W.Va. – Junior
Braden Ward of the Concord University men's cross country team was selected to the All-Mountain East Conference First Team after the conclusion of Saturday's MEC Championship at Oglebay Resort.
Ward, a native of Princeton, West Virginia, landed on the All-MEC First Team for the first time in his career after placing sixth at the conference meet Saturday in a time of 26:30 for the 8,000-meter terrain.
The Mountain Lions placed fourth as a team with score of 122. Charleston won the meet with a score of 27.
Junior
AJ Skeens was just outside of All-MEC Second Team honors as he placed 21
st with a time of 27:10. Spots 1-10 are first team all-conference while 11-20 claim All-MEC Second Team. Sophomore
Brandon Canaday crossed in 24
th as he clocked 27:16. Sophomore Reese Hicky was next through for the Mountain Lions, placing 35
th at 28:08.
Junior
Bramley Childress finished 41
st with a showing of 28:31. Freshman
Johnny Walkup placed inside the top 50, by finishing 44
th in 28:38. Junior
Andrew Tickle clocked 29:05 while sophomore
Joshua Uhrig was nine seconds back.

Garrett Hatcher sported a time of 30:10 while senior
Connor Cormack ran 20:25.
Charleston's Hugo Hewitt was the individual champion in 25:50 with UC claiming the first four spots. Charleston swept the individual awards with Hewitt earning MEC Runner of the Year. Harry Witt was the MEC Freshman of the Year, and Nick Bias was named MEC Coach of the Year.
CU competes at the Atlantic Region Championship November 8 at Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania.
