PITTSBURGH – The Concord University men's soccer team swept the two-game, regular-season series from Point Park with a 2-0 win Wednesday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference game Highmark Stadium.
The Mountain Lions (9-3, 7-3 MEC) controlled the run of play throughout, and scored in each half to notch their ninth win of the season. CU outshot Point Park (5-6-1, 5-4-1 MEC) 22-7 in the match, and took seven of the eight corners over 90 minutes.
A giveaway by the PPU backline turned into Concord's first goal in the 37
th minute. Senior midfielder
Malher Santi Possu swept a pass to junior forward
Dominique Malhomme who scored his fourth goal of the year from top left of the penalty area.
CU took 16 shots in the first half while holding the Pioneers without a shot in the first 45 minutes. However, the Mountain Lions had to wait until the 81
st minute to double their lead.

Toby Evens-Gilham delivered a ball from the far touch line to the middle of the penalty area near the top of the six-yard box. Sophomore midfielder
Adam Leibowitz made a sliding attempt on the Evens-Gilham pass which turned into his firs goal of the season as the shot got past the Point Park goalkeeper.
Santi Possu and junior midfielder
Issa El Assal led the way in the barrage of shots for Concord with five each. Malhomme recorded four shots. Both shots for junior midfielder
Reese Joshua-McCarthy were on goal.
Junior goalkeeper
Nathan Scargill did not have to record a save to net his third shutout of the season as none of the seven shots for Point Park were on goal.
The Mountain Lions return to Callaghan Stadium to host West Virginia Wesleyan 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
