FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Concord University women's basketball team fell to 25th-ranked Fairmont State 84-57 in a Mountain East Conference game at Joe Retton Arena Wednesday evening.

The Mountain Lions (8-11, 5-7 MEC) battled for the lead early on, but an FSU (16-3, 10-2 MEC) scoring surge saw the Fighting Falcons build a lead.

Sanaiya Morris scored the game's first points on a layup 22 seconds into the game. Then, junior forward
Imani Hickman grabbed a pair of rebounds and scored four straight points to regain control, 8-7, at the 4:52 mark. However, Fairmont State built a double-digit margin heading into the second quarter, 26-15.

Abbie Smith (five) combined to grab 11 of CU's 14 rebounds in the opening frame.
The Fighting Falcons extended the margin to 46-17 at the halftime break and swelled the score to 66-37 at the end of three quarters.
Concord got as close as 24 in the second half, but was unable to cut the deficit any further as FSU closed out the win.
Hickman led the Maroon and Gray with 14 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Sophomore guard
Alexis Frazee scored in double figures for the second straight game as she netted 12 points and hitting two three-pointers. Smith scored five points and snagged six rebounds and senior guard
Skylar Davidson dished out a team-high three assists.
