Concord Places Seventh at Muskingum's Muskie Meet

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Concord University men's track & field team finished seventh at the Muskie Meet hosted by Muskingum University at the Bullock Complex Saturday.

The Mountain Lions recorded 38 points in the meet. Ohio Northern won the meet with 199 points. There were 15 teams in competition.

Ten of Concord's points came from senior Ethan Board in the 500-meter dash as he won the event in a time of 1:08.67. Also, in the event was freshman Tobi Adebulu who placed 18th, crossing the tape in 1:18.68.

CU received points from sophomore Braden Ward in the 800-meter dash as he stopped the timer at 2:00:69, good enough for third. Ward also placed third in the mile run as he clocked 4:30.79. Other top finishers for Concord in the 800-meters were sophomore AJ Skeens (15th/2:08.42), sophomore Bramley Childress (17th/2:08.66), senior Zach Wilson (18th/2:09.05) and sophomore Andrew Tickle (20th/2:09.44).

Some of the same faces were clutch in the mile as well. Tickle (12th) ran 4:36.53, Childress (13th) came through in 4:36.63, Skeens (17th) posted a time of 4:40.65 and Wilson (18th) sported a showing of 4:41.10.

Senior Logan Zuchelli finished fourth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:46.67. Sophomore Garrett Hatcher came through in 9:11.60 which was 11th while freshman Brandon Canaday placed 18th in 9:28.13.

Concord had two top-eight finishers in the 1,000-meter run. Junior Alex Irvin posted a time of 2:54.07 as he finished fifth. And sophomore Wes Holcomb was eighth in a time of 3:04.76.

The Mountain Lions' 4x400-meter relay team of Board and the freshmen trio of Landon Meredith, Aaron Miller and Brady Prior placed fifth in 3:39.43.

Prior sprinted 23.48 seconds in the 200-meter dash to finish ninth.

NOTE: Senior Ian Gardner broke the indoor school record in the 300-meter dash at Virginia Tech Friday night. He ran 35.41 seconds which was eclipsed the previous record set by Dewayne Smith at 35.49 seconds in 2022.

The Mountain Lions are back in action when they travel to Roanoke College's Bast Cregger Invite January 31-February 1.
