SALEM, Va. – The Concord University men's track & field team wrapped up competition at the Finn Pincus Invite Saturday evening on the campus of Roanoke College.
The best two events for the Maroon and Gray were the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs.
Sophomore
Braden Ward produced a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meteters as he crossed the line in 9:03.63. Sophomores
Bramley Childress (9:16.44) and
Andrew Tickle (9:20.85) as well as junior
Alex Irvin (9:26.72) all recorded personal-best times in the event. Childress placed sixth, Tickle was 11
th and Irvin finished 14
th.
In the 5,000-meters, Childress notched another personal record as he finished fourth in a time of 15:54.71. Tickle also logged a career-best time by running 16:31.63 in sixth. Sophomore
Wes Holcomb stopped the timer at 17:33.06, placing 12
th.
Ward led three Mountain Lions in the top 15 of the mile. He came through in 4:29.36 which was good enough for fourth. Senior
Logan Zuchelli clocked 4:33.98 in ninth while Irvin sported a time of 4:40.86 for 14
th.
Senior
Ethan Board finished fourth in the 600-meter run as he ran 1:27.06.
In sprint and middle distance action, senior
Ian Gardner opened up the year with a time of 22.87 seconds in the 200-meter dash which placed him 10
th. Concord's 4x400-meter relay team of Gardner and the freshmen trio of
Landon Meredith,
Aaron Miller and
Brady Prior combined to run 3:37.28, good enough for fourth.
Sophomore
Garrett Hatcher rounded out the top performers for the Mountain Lions as he finished 13
th in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:15.06.
CU is back in action when it travels to the Muskie Invite hosted by Muskingham University Saturday, January 25
