KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Concord University women's soccer team was defeated 4-0 by nationally-ranked Kutztown Thursday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Keystone Field to open the season.
The 25
th-rated Bears (1-0) got off to a fast start with goals in the second and tenth minutes to open the scoring.
Between the first two Kutztown goals, senior forward
Sydney Tucker forced a save in the sixth minute with one of her two shots in the first half. Junior forward
Holly Gray got off a shot in the ninth minute, and freshman defender
Ella Rowell did the same in the 14
th minute.
However, it was KU that scored twice before halftime as it added goals in the 21
st and 31
st minutes.

Jessica Neville each posted a shot in the second half, but Kutztown maintained its four-goal advantage in the win.
Shots were nearly even in the game as KU held a 11-7 advantage. Gray and Tucker each had a shot on goal.

Maddie Loughborough made three saves in the contest.
The Mountain Lions are back in action at Keystone Field 12:00 p.m. Saturday when they face fifth-ranked Gannon.
