INSTITUTE, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with West Virginia State Wednesday night in a Mountain East Conference game at Dickerson Stadium.
CU (1-2-1, 1-0-1 MEC) controlled the second half as it fired off eight shots in the second half to West Virginia State's four.
The best chance for the Mountain Lions came in the 67
th minute when freshman midfielder
Tiana Campbell had back-to-back shots stopped inside the six-yard box. Campbell came up with another attempt in the 80
th minute.
Senior forward
Sydney Tucker found the ball at her foot for an attempt on the edge of the penalty area in the 86
th minutes, but fired high of the target. And Campbell's fourth and final shot of the evening came in the 88
th minute.
WVSU (1-1-2, 1-0-1 MEC) nearly had a last-second goal as a shot scooted just wide of the target on a pair of bounces with 101 seconds remaining in the contest.
The first half was played in the midfield as the teams combined for two shots. Senior defender

Maddie Loughborough stopped the only Yellow Jackets' shot on goal for her first career shutout.

The Mountain Lions took all six corners in the contest.
CU opens up its home schedule 1:00 p.m. Sunday with an MEC South contest versus Davis & Elkins at Callaghan Stadium. Â
