NEW ORLEANS – The Concord University men's cross country team is ranked fourth in the first regular season release of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Atlantic Regional Poll that was announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Mountain Lions were the only team to rise in this week's rankings as they moved up four spots. The top three remained unchanged with Charleston, Davis & Elkins and Shippensburg headlining the poll. Indiana (Pa.) held in its preseason spot of fifth.

Slippery Rock dropped two spots to sixth while Kutztown entered the poll in seventh—after not being ranked in the preseason. Lock Haven and West Virginia Wesleyan each dropped two spots to eighth and ninth, respectively. And West Liberty completed the poll in tenth, falling one spots for its preseason spot.

Concord starts the season September 6 at the Virginia Tech Invite, placing fifth in the highly-contested field. CU returns to Blacksburg, Virginia Friday at 10:00 a.m.  to run in the Virginia Tech Alumni Invite.
