BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team rolled to a 4-1 win over West Virginia Wesleyan Sunday night in the Mountain East Conference opener for both teams at Culpepper Stadium.
The first two goals for CU (1-2, 1-2 MEC) came off set pieces.
In the 16
th minute, junior midfielder 
Jessica Neville blasted a free kick from 25 yards to the post as the shot hit the bottom side of the cross bar and crossed the goal line. Eleven minutes later, a corner kick from junior forward 
Holly Gray found freshman midfielder 
Tiana Campbell flying through the penalty area where she knocked in her first career goal.
The 2-0 lead stood up at halftime before a 50
th minute goal from Gray.
After a giveaway by the Bobcats (1-2, 1-2 MEC) in the defensive third, Gray controlled the ball and smashed her first goal from the top of the 18-yard box.
Playing out of the back in the 74
th minute, senior midfielder 
Leah Fleming rolled a pass through the penalty area and to the top of the six-yard box for Campbell to connect on her second goal of the game.
West Virginia Wesleyan was able to score in the 78
th minute, but never threatened from there.
Concord more than doubled up WVWC in total shots with a 22-10 advantage in the contest. The Mountain Lions pushed 12 shots on target to West Virginia Wesleyan's five. Freshman goalkeeper 
Maddie Loughborough stopped four shots.
Gray led the offense with six total shots. She, Campbell and Neville each had two shots on goal.
The Mountain Lions had 10 corner kicks to WVWC's five
CU concludes its four-game road trip to begin the season when it travels to West Virginia State 6:00 p.m. Wednesday for an MEC tilt.
