Complete Schedule
ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University head men's basketball coach
Todd May released the program's schedule for the 2024-25 season Thursday afternoon.
The Mountain Lions are slated for 26 games with 20 coming against Mountain East Conference foes and six more in non-conference action. The MEC utilizes a double round-robin scheduling format, playing the other 10 schools both home and away.
Concord has a tough open to the season as it plays four straight road games, and two are against NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago. The Maroon and Gray tips off the year November 13 at Virginia Union, in a rematch of a three-point game inside the Carter Center last season.
A trip to California (Pa.) awaits November 16—the same site that Concord played Charleston in the NCAA Tournament in March. The first of two games with Mercer County rival Bluefield State will be November 20 before MEC play opens against Charleston November 23.
CU gets to play inside the Carter Center for the first time November 26 versus West Virginia State. That begins a stretch where Concord plays three of five games at home to close 2024. Point Park visits Athens for the first time ever December 4, and former CU assistant coach Trent Howard comes back to Concord December 15 with Fairmont State.
Road games against Salem (December 7) and Frostburg State (December 11) are wedged in between home stands.
January begins with the Mountain Lions hosting West Virginia Wesleyan January 8 before CU returns to the road to face Davis & Elkins (January 11) and West Liberty (January 15). Concord welcomes Wheeling (January 18) and Charleston (January 22). The month closes at Glenville State (January 25) and at Fairmont State (January 29).
The longest home stand of the season opens February as a three-game stay sees Frostburg State (February 1), Bluefield State (February 3) and Salem (February 5) all play inside the Carter Center.
Concord travels to Pittsburgh February 8 to oppose Point Park. That is followed by a road game at Davis & Elkins February 12.
The final five games of the regular season alternate home and away with Concord hosting Davis & Elkins (February 15), West Liberty (February 22) and Glenville State (March 1). The two road games are at Wheeling (February 19) and at West Virginia State (February 26).
SCHEDULE NOTES
-November 26 will be the latest home opener since the 2024-15 season when CU didn't play its first home game until December 15.
-In two games between Concord and Fairmont State last season, there were a combined 37 lead changes.
-Concord was undefeated in non-conference play during the regular season last year, going 7-0. The average margin of victory was just 7.2 points.
-Another factor in Concord winning 22 games and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament last year was winning 11 games away from the Carter Center, the most since 2018-19 when CU won 13 games either on the road or at a neutral site.
