ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University Athletic Department has announced promotions for all home football games in 2024.
Earlier this summer, Concord announced that September 28 is
Special Olympics Signing Day with a fun-filled day in and around Callaghan Stadium.
To open the season, CU plays Bluefield State for the first time since 1979. The September 7 home opener will also mark the start of the final football season for Concord University President Dr. Kendra Boggess as she begins her final academic year leading CU as President. For that, the Concord-BSU game will be known as the Boggess Bowl, and it will be Concord Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day. Â
The following week, September 14, will be Youth Sports Day versus UVa.-Wise. Any child attending the game will be admitted for free when they wear their youth league sports jersey (any sport, not just football) to the game.
October 19 is Homecoming against Glenville State with various activities scheduled for the day including the Concord Athletics Hall of Fame banquet at 9:00 a.m. in the Beasley Student Ballroom.
In November, Concord welcomes active military, veterans, first responders, nurses and doctors to the November 9 game against Wheeling. Those with a valid ID will be admitted free. For that, the Concord- Wheeling game will be known as the super hero game. During this game the Concord Nursing department will also be offering free health checks that included blood pressure readings and healthy living related information.
To wrap up the season, CU is inviting local vendors and small businesses to set up in the Callaghan Stadium parking lot to showcase their business prior to and during the game against UNC Pembroke November 16.
