2024 Team USA Paralympic Track & Field Announcement
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former Concord University track & field standout Jonathan Gore has been officially selected to compete in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the 2024 Paris Olympics as it was announced late Monday night.
Gore will represent Team USA in the Paris Games August 28-September 8.
The Fayetteville, West Virginia native competes in his second Paralympics with the announcement after racing in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Three years ago, Gore finished fourth in the T64 200-meters and placed seventh in the T64 100-meters. The T64 classification is defined as athletes with movement moderately affected in one lower leg or the absence of one of both legs below the knee. A traumatic accident in 2018 forced the amputation of Gore's left leg at the knee.
At last weekend's USA Paralympic Track & Field Trials, Gore clocked 11.07 seconds in the 100-meters and sprinted 22.98 seconds in the 200-meters.
The 100-meters first round is at 3:12 p.m. EDT September 1. The final of that race is at 3:35 p.m. September 2. The first round of the 200-meters is at 6:02 a.m. EDT September 7 with the finals set for later that day 1:50 p.m.
Broadcast information will be provided at a later date leading up to the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
Gore starred on the track for the Mountain Lions from 2013-17. He was a seven-time All-Mountain East Conference performer that included winning the 200-meter dash in 2017. Additionally, he was the MEC Championships MVP in 2017 after adding second-place showings in the 100-meters and long jump. He was voted all-region twice in the long jump and still holds the indoor (7.14 meters) and outdoor (7.16 meters) program records in the event.
After his eligibility was up at CU in 2017, Gore returned to his alma in 2020 to serve as an assistant coach for the track & field teams from 2020-2023.
