BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Concord University Athletic Department, with approval from the Mountain East Conference, has announced that the men's and women's soccer teams will once again host soccer games on campus beginning this fall.
The Mountain Lion soccer teams will play all home games for the 2024 season on the turf of Callaghan Stadium. All game times will be 1:00 p.m. for women's home games and 3:30 p.m. for men's home games. Complete schedule releases for both teams will be available in July. Â Â
Since the halfway point of the 2019 season, Concord has called the YMCA Cline Complex in Beckley, West Virginia its home field. But, both soccer teams will be able to play in front of a campus crowd with Wednesday's announcement.
Before moving to Beckley, CU played home soccer games on the natural grass surface of Anderson Field—the school's baseball field.
The Mountain Lion women are coming off a year that saw them make the NCAA Tournament for the third time since 2019, posting an 12-7-2 record. Meanwhile, the CU men had a historic season as well by advancing to the MEC Semifinals for the first time in program history, tallying a final mark of 8-5-7.
The first home game in Athens for the CU men will be September 11 versus West Liberty. The Concord women play their first contest of the fall September 22 against Davis & Elkins.
