ATHENS, W.Va. – Sophomore pitcher/infielder Madison Hollis and junior infielder Courtney Raines of the Concord University softball team have been named to the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) Academic All-District, the organization released Tuesday afternoon.

Hollis, a native of McMinnville, Tennessee, earns her spot on the CSC Academic All-District Team after a successful first season at CU. A transfer from Bates College, she batted .327 with three home runs, 28 RBI, 12 doubles and a triple. She finished second on the team in doubles and RBI. In the circle, Hollis was responsible for nine wins over 121 innings. Hollis sported an ERA of 3.64 and struck out 47. She tossed a shutout of Tusculum in her first start of the season. She added a career-best seven strikeouts in a win at Winston-Salem State, allowing one earned run. Her best offensive day came in a doubleheader sweep when she notched three RBI in each leg of the twinbill.

In the classroom, Hollis has a 3.65 GPA as a biology major.

Raines, a native of Salem, Virginia, lands on the CSC Academic All-District Team on the heels of her all-region season on the diamond. In the classroom, Raines graduated in three years with a 3.60 GPA in CU's sociology program. Out of a possible six semesters, Raines has been on Concord's Dean's List five times. She has also been a member of the All-Mountain East Conference Academic Team twice. On the field, Raines hit .353 this spring with an MEC-leading 16 doubles and 40 RBI. She added three home runs and scored 25 times. Raines recorded multi-RBI games in 12 contests—a team high—and accounted for 19 multi-hit games. She went on a streak in late March with at least one RBI in seven straight games.

To be eligible for the Academic All-District and Academic All-American Program by CSC, student-athletes must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA and competed in 90 percent of games or started 66 percent.

Based on her credentials, Raines advances to the Academic All-American ballot.
