ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University head men's basketball coach
Todd May has announced the signing of Josiah Rickards to the recruiting class of 2024.
Name: Josiah Rickards
Hometown: Virginia Beach, Virginia
High School: Catholic
Position: Guard
Height: 6-foot-3
Rickards capped a successful high school career as he averaged 13.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game as a senior. He shot 48 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range in his final season for the Crusaders of Catholic High School.
"Josiah Rickards is a skilled combo guard who can play all three guard positions," May said. "He can score at all three levels as well as get his teammates involved. He uses his length and athleticism to cause problems on the defensive end. Most importantly, he fits our culture and we are excited to add him to our program."
Rickards helped Catholic win 84 games in four seasons that included a 30-game win streak over the 2022 and 2023 seasons. For his career, Rickards scored more than 1,600 points, and was a two-time all-state selection.
Some recruiting services have Rickards ranked as a top-20 player in the state of Virginia.
With the announcement of the Rickards, Concord's 2024 class now has two players after Ohio big man Kraig Gilbert signed in November.
