BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Senior infielder
Chris Satcher of the Concord University baseball team has been selected as the Mountain East Conference Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Satcher, a native of West Palm Beach, Florida, batted .523 over six games for the Mountain Lions, going 11-for-21 at the plate with five home runs and 13 RBI in six straight wins for CU. He started the week with a three home run game versus Davis & Elkins Monday afternoon to set a single-game program record. He added two more homers in Sunday's doubleheader sweep of West Virginia Wesleyan.
For the week, Satcher slugged 1.286.
Satcher had at least one RBI in all six games during the week, and has tallied an RBI in 13 consecutive games, entering Tuesday's contest at UVa.-Wise. He leads the MEC in RBI (51) and is tied for second in home runs (11) having homered eight times in the last nine games.
Though Concord has had two MEC Pitchers of the Week—graduate student
Andrew Neff and junior
Rylee Nicholas—this spring, Satcher is the first CU position player to receive conference weekly honors.
Fairmont State's Connor Tingler was the MEC Pitcher of the Week after throwing a no-hitter versus Notre Dame.
First pitch for Concord's game at UVa.-Wise is 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.
