ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team opens Mountain East Conference competition at the CU Softball Field, welcoming 16
th ranked Charleston for a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m. and West Virginia State for a Sunday doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.

SPEEDY STACY
In game two of Wednesday's sweep of Bluefield State, junior infielder
Kylee Stacy Stole her 14
th base of the season and the 45
th stolen base in her career. The Green Cove Springs, Fla. native is second in program history for stolen bags and is one away from tying Jessica Seymour's 46 stolen bases, a program record. Stacy is a perfect 14-for-14 in stealing bases this season and sits at third in the MEC. She has been consistent in her three-year career at CU, swiping 17 bases in 2022, 14 bases in 2023, and now 14 stolen bags through 20 games in her junior campaign.
CLOSE CALLS
Charleston took all four games from Concord a season ago, with the road series being decided by only four runs. In game one at UC, sophomore catcher/utility
Morgan Gleason batted in all three CU runs. In Athens, 12 home runs were hit across two games, including a homer from sophomore infielder
Lacie Lewis. Lewis leads the MEC with 20 RBI this season. After dropping the first three games to WVSU last season, Concord defeated the Yellow Jackets in Athens, 5-0, behind a complete-game, one-hit shutout by Roberts. In two games pitched against WVSU a season ago, Roberts only allowed one earned run.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Charleston enters the weekend ranked 16
th nationally and 12-1 overall. The Golden Eagles present the MEC's second-best offense, batting a collective .320. Defensively, UC has the highest fielding percentage in the league at .983, only committing five errors. Senior utility Hannah Rose leads UC on offense, hitting .436 and driving in 15 runs in 13 games. Charleston sports a team ERA of 2.12, good for second in the conference.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
After taking two games each from UVa.-Wise and Lincoln, WVSU has dropped three straight contests. As a team, the Yellow Jackets are second in the MEC in stolen bases, swiping 47 bags. Senior outfielder Emele Clark leads the way with 17 stolen bases, while junior outfielder Kerigan Moore has 10. Moore (.362) and Clark (.316) also lead West Virginia State in batting average.
