MANUFACTURING RUNS
The Mountain Lions are averaging 8.8 runs per game which ranks top 30 in Division II. However, CU has collected just eight more hits than it has runs this season, 105-97. Fifth-year senior infielder Zack Saryeldin's 1.70 runs scored per game are fourth in Division II while senior infielder Daniel Layne is tied for 14th in the country with 1.55 runs scored per contest. Concord enters Tuesday with a team batting average of .287, but CU's on-base percentage is nearly 150 points higher at .420. Senior infielder Brendan Brady (12), Saryeldin (11) and senior infielder Chris Satcher (10) have all drawn double-digit walks through 11 games. Concord's on-base number is just outside the top 50 in Division II.

SEEING RED

In Concord's 12-3 win over UVa.-Wise last week, senior infielder Michael Dupont and junior utility MJ Hunter both homered in the win. For Dupont, it was his fifth career home run and his first since last February versus Bluefield State home. Two of the five hits for Dupont on the season have gone for extra bases. Hunter has homered twice in his career with both coming against UVa.-Wise. The Christiansburg, Virginia native had a blast in last year's series opener against the Cavaliers. Additionally, Hunter has hit safely in nine of 11 games this season from the leadoff spot.  Also in the win over UVa.-Wise, head coach Kevin Garrett picked up his 550th career win.

REVENGE ON THE MIND
Concord was outscored 26-12 in two games last season versus Emory & Henry after winning twice against the Wasps in 2022. In a 12-6 loss on the road last April, nine different players accounted for hits with junior pitcher Rylee Nicholas driving in a pair of runs. Saryeldin has recorded hits in all four career games against E&H, going 7-for-17. Hunter has hit safely in three career games versus E&H to go with three RBI. And Layne is 4-for-8 in two career starters against Emory & Henry with four runs scored. Two years, CU defeated the Wasps on the road, 6-3, thanks in part to two hits and two RBI from Saryeldin.

SCOUTING THE WASPS
Because of rainy weather, Concord will be E&H's home opener Tuesday afternoon. Jared Foley has a team-best 27 hits this season and is tied for the team lead with 11 RBI. Tyler Bradley has homered twice and collected 20 hits. Foley (.323) and Bradley (.323) are the only hitters above .300. Foley was 6-for-12 against CU pitching last season with six runs scored. Bradley homered twice at Anderson Field versus the Mountain Lions.
