BREAK OUT THE BIG BATS
After getting shut out in the first game of the season-opening doubleheader at Tusculum Tuesday, the Mountain Lions piled up nine runs on 12 hits in the nightcap. CU's nine runs were the most since last April against West Liberty when they scored 13 times. Sophomore infielder Lacie Lewis notched her fourth career home run while tallying a career-best three RBI. Junior infielder Kylee Stacy ripped two triples in the game as she also notched a career best in RBI with four. Stacy's two triples were the first time a Concord player had multiple triples in the same game since Becca Gleason had a program-record three triples in March 2013. Stacy is now up to four career triples.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Sophomore infielder/pitcher Madison Hollis was stellar in her first appearance in the Maroon and Gray against Tusculum as she limited the Pioneers to seven hits while notching five strikeouts in a complete-game shutout. It marked the second time in the last three seasons that a CU pitcher has been the winning pitcher in their Concord debut. Redshirt freshman outfielder Sophia Conger got the call off the bench in the second game against Tusculum as she came in and went 2-for-2 with a double versus the Pioneers in what was her second career game. Conger was forced to miss all of 2023 with an injury.

SEEING RED
Sunday will be the Mountain Lions' first visit to Cavalier Field on UVa.-Wise's campus since the 2019 season. In 2023 in Athens, the teams split a doubleheader with Concord winning 2-0 in the first contest before the Cavs busted out for 12 runs in the second game. Senior pitcher Nancy-Jo Roberts tossed a shutout in the first contest as she worked around nine hits and five walks, leaving 13 runners stranded. The game's only runs came courtesy of a two-run single by Lewis in the fifth inning. CU was limited to just 10 hits across two games by UVa.-Wise pitching last season. Lewis was 1-for-3 in both games while senior outfielder Imani Campbell batted 2-for-3 and drove in a run in the second game in 2023.
