ATHENS, W.Va. – During the holiday season, the Concord University Sports Information Department will be unveiling the top moments, games and storylines from the past year in Concord Athletics in countdown form.

From the top games, All-American recognition, NCAA Tournament appearances and more we hope you enjoy a look back at Concord Athletics over the last 365 days.

As the first half of the countdown ends, we head to the soccer pitch for the first time in the sixth-best moment of 2024.

In just ten all-time meetings, the Concord women's soccer matchups with West Virginia State have quickly turned into rivalry games. When the sides meet up on the pitch, there's Mountain East Conference Tournament seeding on the line as well as potential NCAA Tournament implications.

In the middle of September, the teams played to a scoreless draw at West Virginia State.

But when the regular-season series shifted back to Athens in late October, the game featured plenty of drama to go along with seven goals. The Yellow Jackets needed just six minutes to break the seal.

Concord responded with a flurry of goals, scoring three times over a six-minute span in the first half. Tiana Campbell posted goals in the 24th and 30th minutes with Caitlin Webster scoring in the 28th minute.

Early in the second half, West Virginia State drew even as they scored equally as fast in the 55th and 57th minutes.

As the game headed for the conclusion, it appeared that the teams would once again settle for a tie.

A shot from a free kick by Leah Fleming with 14 seconds remaining was blocked, and fell to the feet of Caitlyn Martin who flipped a pass over Nora Voisey. From there, Voisey elected to toe a pass to Sydney Tucker who scored with eight seconds remaining.

It was the latest goal for the Mountain Lions since the end of the 2019 season.
