ATHENS, W.Va. – During the holiday season, the Concord University Sports Information Department will be unveiling the top moments, games and storylines from the past year in Concord Athletics in countdown form.
From the top games, All-American recognition, NCAA Tournament appearances and more we hope you enjoy a look back at Concord Athletics over the last 365 days.
One of the top single-game individual performances from 2024 makes an appearance on Christmas Day at number seven in the countdown.
Chris Satcher put together one of the most memorable days in the storied history of Concord baseball when he became the first player to hit three home runs in a single game on April 8 in game one of a doubleheader versus Davis & Elkins.
Having already hit safely in 23 of 26 games during the 2024 season, Satcher also entered the April afternoon doubleheader with a three-game home run streak, including launching home runs in the first two games of the D&E series.
In the seven-inning game against the Senators, Satcher wasted no time with a leadoff home run in the second inning, his first at-bat of the contest. After a groundout in the third inning, the West Palm Beach, Florida native unloaded on another solo home run in the fifth to give Concord a 6-5 lead.
Satcher stayed hot into his final at-bat of the game. With the game hanging in the balance in the top of the seventh—tied at 6-6—and CU batting as the road team in the game played at Anderson Field, Satcher connected on a 3-2 pitch for a tape measure three-run home run out to left center field.
In the modern history of Concord baseball—since 1994—there had been nine two home run games in program history, but Satcher became the first player with three home runs in a single game.
The performance versus Davis & Elkins helped Satcher finish fourth in the MEC in home runs with 11 during the spring.
