ATHENS, W.Va. – The sophomore trio of defensive specialist Allie Davis, setter Paige Richmond and outside hitter Meg Williams of the Concord University volleyball team have been honored as Academic All-District selections by College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

Davis, a native of Jonesborough, Tennessee, has a perfect 4.0 GPA through two semesters of undergrad work—fall 2024 grades were not factored into the CSC Academic All-District Teams. A health sciences major, Davis has appeared on the Concord Dean's List in both completed semesters. Additionally, she was on the All-Mountain East Conference Academic Team at the conclusion of the fall 2023 semester. On the court, Davis earned All-MEC Second Team in 2024 after finishing second in the conference in digs per set (4.92). As a sophomore, Davis has already surpassed 1,000 career digs, recording 1,088 through two seasons.

Richmond has a 3.70 GPA in two semesters as a business administration major. CU's primary setter has already gone over 1,000 career assists as she has amassed 1,258 assists. The Martinsburg, West Virginia native closed the 2024 season ranking ninth in the MEC in assists per set (5.51). In 2023, Richmond was third in the MEC in aces per set (0.56) which also ranked top 15 nationally. Like Davis, Richmond appeared on the All-MEC Academic Team in January, and was on the Concord Dean's List last fall.

For Williams, she carries a 3.80 in the classroom as an elementary education major. She has been on the Concord Dean's List twice in her career, and found her name on the All-MEC Academic Team last year. The Shady Spring, West Virginia native has been equally successful on the volleyball court. Williams became Concord's first All-MEC First Team selection since 2016 this fall as she bumped up from the All-MEC Second Team in 2023. In each of her first two seasons, she has been inside the top seven in the conference in kills per set. Williams was also on the All-MEC Tournament Team this year after helping lead CU to the conference semifinals for the first time in more than 30 years.

Davis and Williams will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration. Members of CSC determine who moves on for Academic All-American voting. The Academic All-American Team will be announced January 14.

To be recognized on the CSC Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must carry a minimum cumulative 3.50 GPA as a sophomore in the classroom, and have played in 66 percent of matches or started 90 percent.
