FANTASTIC FRESHMAN
Since scoring 28 points over the first five games of his career, freshman forward Kraig Gilbert has scored 48 points in the last three games. The Grove City, Ohio native has collected back-to-back double-doubles after 14 points and 10 rebounds at Salem and netting a career-high 20 points to go with a career-best 11 rebounds at Frostburg State Wednesday night. Additionally, Gilbert took over the MEC lead in blocks per game from teammate and junior forward Rene Diop at 2.3 per game after swatting away five shots against FSU. Gilbert has at least one block in seven of eight games this winter and has had four multi-block games. Gilbert is fourth among freshmen in the MEC in scoring this season (9.5) and is first in rebounding (6.1).

CAREER OUTINGS
Senior guard Corey Boston continued his stellar play at Frostburg State as he dropped in a career-best 19 points on 5-for-12 shooting while making a career-best seven free throws in nine chances. It marked the second time in the last three games that the Lafayette, Alabama native has netted a career high in scoring. In Concord's last home game against Point Park, Boston tallied 18 points for his previous career best before Wednesday's outburst. Boston has scored in double figures in all five games he has played in this season. And while junior guard Kollin Tolbert leads the Mountain Lions and MEC in scoring (21.4), Boston is 15th in the conference in scoring (15.0). Last season, Boston got his first career start at Fairmont State as he scored seven points in 17 minutes. He added eight points in 11 minutes off the bench at home versus the Fighting Falcons.

SHARE THE BALL

CU has recorded its season high in assists in consecutive games with 14 at Salem and at Frostburg State. The Mountain Lions have assisted on just under 50 percent (28 of 58) made field goals in the last two games. Boston has recorded three or more assists in four of his five games this year. Tolbert is averaging 4.3 assists per game over the last six contests and is up to 3.6 assists per contest for the year, seventh in the MEC. Diop finished one assist shy of his career high with three assists at Frostburg State. CU has dished out 10 or more assists in all but one game this season. Meanwhile, Fairmont State is second in the MEC and 19th in Division II in assists per game (18.1).

WELCOME TO THE CARTER CENTER
The Mountain Lions have won nine straight home games and 12 of their last 13 games inside the Carter Center. In terms of active home winning streaks, CU is tied for seventh in Division II for most consecutive home wins. The game that got the streak started was a 69-68 victory over Fairmont State on January 31 of last season. Tolbert made consecutive three-pointers in the final 32 seconds, including the game-winning triple with two seconds remaining to lift Concord to the win. Tolbert finished with 24 points and nine rebounds. The Maroon and Gray has won two straight home games over Fairmont State. In December 2022, CU made a single-game program record 66.7 percent (12-of-18) of its three-point attempts in an 86-83 win over the then 19th-ranked Fighting Falcons. Senior forward Amare Smith came off the bench to score 18 points in 16 minutes, including going 4-of-5 from three-point range.

RUN N' GUN
Two of the most explosive offenses not only in the MEC, but in all of Division II will be on display. Fairmont State averages 93.1 points per game which is 12th in Division II. The Mountain Lions net 87.4 points per game which ranks 32nd in Division II. Fairmont State's shooting percentage of 52.0 is fifth in the nation. CU is coming off a game where it shot its second-highest percentage of the season (50.0/29-of-58) at Frostburg State. Concord has scored 80 or more points in six straight games which is the longest streak since November 22, 2022 through January 7, 2023 when it topped 80 points in eight straight games. While Fairmont State has its high-octane offense, FSU does rank 10th in the MEC in field-goal percentage defense at 46.7.

REBOUNDING WINS
Concord and Fairmont State are two of the best rebounding teams in the conference. CU has the second-best rebounding margin in the MEC (4.8). Fairmont State is third with a rebounding margin of 2.4. Concord's 41.1 rebounds per game are third in the MEC and ranks 27th in Division II. Neither team relies on just one or two players to gobble up rebounds. FSU's Andre Harris is seventh in the MEC in rebounding (7.1). Diop is tied with Fairmont State's David Jolinder for 12th in rebounds per game in the league at 6.1. Gilbert and Tolbert are tied for 14th in the MEC with 6.0 rebounds per game. CU is second in the MEC in offensive rebounds with 14.0 per game. Diop (2.8) and Gilbert (2.3) both average more than two offensive boards per contest.

Fairmont State has shot at least 50 percent in all but one game this season. Additionally, FSU has made 40 percent or more of its three-point attempts in five of eight games. Jolinder leads five players in double figures at 19.3 points per game which is third in the MEC. Harris, a Notre Dame College transfer, nets 15.8 points per game. Rudy Fitzgibbons, a Chattanooga transfer, adds 14.9 points per game. Former WVU and Temple player Taj Thweatt (12.9 points) and former Shady Spring High standout Tommy Williams (10.0) round out the double-digit scorers.
