ANOTHER INSTANT CLASSIC
A week after the Mountain Lions held off Charleston, 3-2, for first win in program history over the Golden Eagles (0-40 previously) as well their first win over a nationally-ranked program (0-29 previously), Concord played in the highest-scoring MEC Tournament game in history, outscoring Davis & Elkins 6-4 Wednesday night at Callaghan Stadium. Senior forward
Fabian Amhof and sophomore forward
Syrus Conolly each scored twice in the game while sophomore forward
Ignacio Alvarez Maina and junior midfielder
Malher Santi Possu each scored once. Junior forward
Richard Henry assisted on three of the goals to tie the single-game program record for assists.
SHATTERING THE RECORD BOOKS
Already with the single-season program wins record well in the rearview mirror of 13 wins in 2000, this year's squad has set its sights on more records. By scoring six times Wednesday night, the Mountain Lions moved into a tie for second with the 2001 team for most goals in a season with 54. The 2000 Concord men's soccer team tallied 63 goals for the single-season program record. The 146 points that CU has racked up this fall trails only the 2000 squad that had 176. Individually, Conolly is now fifth in single-season goals at Concord as he is the first player to reach 12 or more goals in a season since Ben Chavolla and Gard Kristiansen in 2001. Possu's 10 goals this year are sixth in a single season at Concord.
MEETING AT THE TOP
The Mountain Lions are newcomers to the MEC postseason scene after qualifying for their first conference tournament in 23 years last fall. Now Concord finds itself in its first MEC Championship against a Charleston side that has played in all 11 MEC Championships and sports a record of 9-2 in those games. However, CU has battled the Golden Eagles tough twice this year. Concord lost 2-1 at UC in late September despite tying the game in the 60
th minute. It took an 88
th-minute goal to defeat CU. Just nine days ago, the Mountain Lions raced out to a 3-0 lead through 36 minutes then withstood a Charleston surge to win 3-2. Conolly accounted for two goals while junior defender
Julian Correa scored in the seventh minute on a header from a corner kick. The three goals Concord put on UC was the first time Charleston had allowed three or more goals in a game since September 2017 versus West Virginia Wesleyan.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Charleston rolls into the MEC Championship after scoring two times seven minutes apart in the second half versus Frostburg State Wednesday night in the other MEC Semifinal. UC held Frostburg State to four shots in the game while taking 20 total shots (13 on goal). Jack Kay was the MEC Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 10 times during the regular season. Joao Belmudes netted both goals in UC's win over Concord in September while Kay and Caio Moraes scored in Athens on November 6.
