RALEIGH, N.C. – The Concord University men's soccer team lost a non-conference game to Shaw, 4-1, Wednesday afternoon at Durham County Memorial Stadium.
SU (3-6) scored twice in each half to grow a 4-0 advantage through 73 minutes before freshman midfielder
Kyle Gordon scored for the second time this season in the 86
th minute.
The Mountain Lions (4-2-2) owned a 12-8 shots advantage in the contest as they put six shots on target. No CU player had multiple shots on goal.
Sophomore forward
Syrus Conolly led Concord with three shots. Gordon and junior forward
Richard Henry each had two attempts in the contest.
The Mountain Lions owned a 52-48 edge in total possession, but all four shots Shaw put on target found the back of the net. Junior goalkeepers
Rashad Hart and
Nathan Scargill split time in goal with Scargill spending the final 77 minutes between the pipes.
Concord continues its non-conference stretch when it hosts Salem 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Callaghan Stadium.
