OAKWOOD, Ga. – The Concord University men's cross country team finished second at the Southeast Regional Preview hosted by North Georgia Saturday morning.
The Mountain Lions tallied 54 points as it was just nine points behind first place Anderson.
Junior
Logan Zuchelli picked up the individual win for CU as he clocked 24:59 for the 8,000-meter course, 14 seconds ahead of Lenoir-Rhyne's Lewis Budgen.
Senior
Preston Prather claimed third place as he crossed in a time of 25:19.
Concord put a total of five runners in the top 20 as freshman
Braden Ward placed 14
th, coming through in 26:25. Junior
Ethan Board finished 17
th in 26:48, and freshman
Jaeden Holstein (19
th) just missed breaking 27 minutes, crossing in 27:02.
Graduate student
Alex Watty finished 22
nd as he stopped the timer at 27:14. Sophomore
Alex Irvin rounded out the CU top seven with a showing of 27:28, good enough for 24
th.
Freshman
AJ Skeens clocked 28:13 to finish 42
nd, and freshman
Andrew Tickle sported a time of 28:34. Junior
Zach Wilson (28:53), freshman
Devon Lemon (30:59) and sophomore
Connor Cormack (33:05) rounded out the Concord field.
The Mountain Lions will be back in action Friday when they travel to the Royals XC Challenge hosted by Queens University in Charlotte.
