ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team defeated Frostburg State 3-0 in the Mountain East Conference opener Friday night in the Carter Center.

Chloe Thompson gave Concord the advantage 11-10 in the opening set. A 5-0 Bobcat run was halted by a pair of attack errors and a kill from senior right side
Reese Turner to tie the game 16-16. A 4-0 Mountain Lion run headed by back-to-back aces by freshman outside hitter
Paige Richmond gave Concord a three-point edge late in the set, 22-19. Two kills from
Chloe Thompson in the closing points of the set sealed a 1-0 lead for Concord, final score 26-24.

Three kills from Williams and an ace from freshman setter
Declyn Tooze knotted the second set 5-5. Concord deferred a number of back-and-forth scores by going on a 3-0 run led by Turner and senior middle hitter
Csayjah Whitelow to take a 15-12 lead. Williams collected seven kills in the set, including the final spike as Concord took a 2-0 lead, 25-19.

Three kills from Thompson and two kills from Williams put Concord ahead in the third set, 8-6. Thomspon added two more kills to give Concord a four-point lead at the midway point of the set, 15-11. A 4-0 scoring run behind kills from Tooze and freshman right side
Natalie Brown pulled CU ahead 22-18. Two attack errors by Frostburg State in the closing points of the set earned Concord its first conference win on the season as the Mountain Lions won the third set and the match, 25-20. Â Â

Match Stats
Williams and Thompson led all players in kills with 16 and 14, respectively. Williams recorded her sixth double-double of the season as she also picked up 13 digs. Freshman defensive specialist
Allie Davis had a game-high 21 digs in the match. Richmond totaled 23 assists and two aces, while Tooze had 15 assists and one ace. Turner, Whitelow, and Pilant all had one block in the match.
