Concord Rolls By Davis & Elkins, 5-1

ELKINS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team scored four goals in the first half and cruised to a 5-1 win at Nuttall Field in a Mountain East Conference game Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore forward Caitlin Webster got the scoring underway in the 16th minute. After a turnover in the midfielder, graduate forward Alexa Todd found graduate midfielder Michelle Brogden who one-touched a pass to Webster. And she was able to bury her third goal in the last two games.

Brogden only needed two minutes to double the Concord (2-1-1, 2-0 MEC) lead as she took a pass from sophomore midfielder Reeanna Cook near the top of the 18-yard box and fired in her second goal of the year.

Cook scored in the 24th minute after a corner kick was unable to be cleared away cleanly by the Davis & Elkins (0-4-1, 0-2-1 MEC) defense.

The final first-half goal came in the 30th minute as junior forward Nora Voisey found the back of the net from a sharp angle right after receiving a pass in stride form Brogden.

Freshman midfielder Wilma Hedenberg recorded her first career goal in the 73rd minute after another errant clearance from D&E.

The Senators did get on the board in the 82nd minute with a penalty kick.

Brogden and Cook both finished with three points.

CU owned a decisive 26-5 advantage in shot. Brogden took a game-high six shots. Junior forward Kylene Franklin and Voisey both tallied four shots off the bench.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Pattillo made two saves in the contest.

Concord remains on the road for a 4:00 p.m. start Wednesday against Charleston.
