Fairmont, W. Va.-  The Concord University Softball Team faced off against Fairmont State and dropped both games, 9-5, 3-0, at Duvall-Rosier Field Friday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference doubleheader.
Game 1: Fairmont State 9 – Concord 5
Concord jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Sophomore Infielder 
Kylee Stacy started it off with an infield single. Freshman infielder 
Lacie Lewis followed up with an RBI double plating Stacy, two batters later, Sophomore pitcher 
Rachael Koller added her own double scoring Lewis to make it a 2-0 lead.
Freshman catcher 
Morgan Gleason capped off the rally with a third double in the inning, stretching the lead to 4-0.
Fairmont State answered right back in the bottom half scoring five of its own runs to take the lead 5-4.
In the top of the third, the Mountain Lions tied it up at 5-5. Sophomore infielder 
Courtney Raines led the inning off with a walk. Two batters later, Gleason singled into center field advancing Raines to third.Sophomore outfielder 
Kayla McCraw hit an RBI sac fly to center to pay off the leadoff walk and nodding the game 5-5.
Fairmont State scored two runs in the fourth to retake the lead 7-5, and added two more runs in the sixth.
Junior pitcher 
Nancy-Jo Roberts (9-13) threw five complete innings while allowing four earned runs. Roberts struck out three batters. Sophomore pitcher 
Caitlyn Bauer was the relief for Roberts, Bauer threw the remaining inning.
Lewis and Gleason ended the game with a pair of hits each. Gleason drove in two runs with the first-inning double.
Game 2: Fairmont State 3 – Concord 0
Koller (3-6) got the start inside the circle for game two throwing her third complete game of the season. Koller went six innings while striking out three and allowing two earned runs. The righty started the game off by sitting down the first six batters she faced.
Fairmont went up 2-0 in the bottom of the third and added an insurance run in the fourth to make it 3-0. But Concord had some opportunities to answer. In the top of the fifth, Gleason walked and was advanced to second on a base hit by freshman catcher 
Lorelai Ellerby. CU was unable to capitalize and left both runners stranded.
The Mountain Lions had one more chance in the top of the seventh to plate three runs. With two outs, CU got consecutive hits with a single by McCraw followed by an Ellerby double to put runners in scoring position, and bringing the tying run to the plate. CU was once again unable to bring the runners home.
Ellerby had two hits including a double.
CU's matchup Saturday against Frostburg State has been postponed to a later date. Stay tuned for any schedule updates regarding the FSU doubleheader.
