POWER SURGE
The Mountain Lions hit three home runs in their weekend series against Ashland as graduate outfielder Josh Adkins along with junior infielders Daniel Layne and Zack Saryeldin all homered. Layne and Saryeldin homered in the same inning on Sunday afternoon—Saryeldin's first home run of the season and Layne's first career home run. Adkins belted his second homer of the season in the final game of the series. CU has now hit a home run in three of its last four games after junior infielder Michael Dupont homered against Bluefield State last Wednesday. The Maroon and Gray is right on pace with last year's home run total of 35.

MIDWEEK ACTION
Freshman pitcher Evan Hosey did not appear over the weekend versus Ashland, but in his first career start last Wednesday against Bluefield State, the Colorado Springs, Colorado native tossed five innings as he fanned eight BSU hitters. Ultimately, Hosey did not earn a win for his effort—leaving the game in a 2-2 game. In two wins versus Emory & Henry last season, Concord leaned on stellar starts as both CU pitchers went at least five innings with now-graduated pitcher Dan Nicholls tossing 6.2 innings and allowing just three earned runs in a 6-3 road win March 15.

COMEBACK KIDS
Concord rallied in both of its wins over Emory & Henry last season as it faced a deficit of 3-1 on the road and rallied from a late 8-7 margin at home April 5. Saryeldin was at the center of last year's road comeback as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI as both his RBI were insurance runs for the Mountain Lions in the eighth inning. Trailing 8-7 in the bottom of the seventh at home, CU scored the final four runs. Sophomore pitcher/infielder MJ Hunter tied the game with an RBI double in the seventh before a three-run eighth. Saryeldin scored the go-ahead run on a triple from former All-American Anthony Stehlin. Overall, Saryeldin was 5-for-9 with three RBI versus E&H last year. Hunter had three hits at home. Senior pitcher Nick Sanso earned the win for Concord at home.

SCOUTING THE WASPS
Emory & Henry travels to Athens looking to stop a seven-game losing streak with its most recent losses coming in the first South Atlantic Conference series to Catawba. The Wasps are scoring just 4.1 runs per game. Emory & Henry has a staff ERA of 6.50.
