DOWN THE STRETCH
Senior guard Jaisah Smith scored 12 of her 16 points against UVa.-Wise in the second half on Monday. Smith's 12 points contributed to the largest point total in a half by CU this season (51). She has totaled 109 points through eight games this season, with 63 of those points (57 percent) coming in the second half. Monday's meeting against the Cavaliers was the second time she scored in double-digits after halftime, as she racked up 18 second half points to record her season-high of 23 points against Lock Haven. After Monday, Smith ranks ninth in the MEC and leads the Mountain Lions averaging 13.6 points per game.

SECOND HALF SURGE
After falling into a 15-point deficit at halftime against UVa.-Wise 45-30, the Mountain Lions' offense jumped into gear in the second half. CU scored a season-high 51 points on 57.7 percent shooting from the field (15-26) and 66.7 percent from the three-point line (6-9) after the break. Smith and graduate guard Nakaila Gray put up 12 points each in the second half, with Smith going 6-for-6 at the free throw line and Gray knocking down a trio of three-point shots, a season-high. Although the Mountain Lions never led in the second half, the 51-point performance was enough to tie the game four separate times and notch the highest point total scored by CU this season.

TURN UP THE HEAT
The Mountain Lions swiped a season-best 18 steals against UVa.-Wise. Junior guard Skylar Davidson led the charge, coming away with a career-high six steals. Graduate forward Alexis Phillips and senior guard Maddie Ratcliff followed her with three steals each. Monday was Ratcliff's third straight game with at least three or more steals. Davidson and Ratcliff fall inside the top 15 in the MEC in steals per game and Davidson's six steal performance is tied for the third-highest single-game mark this season. As a team, CU ranks fourth in the MEC in steals per game (11.68) and has recorded double-digit steals in five games this winter.

BRING OUT THE BROOMS
Last season marked the first time Concord swept the season series against the Bobcats since they joined the MEC in the 2019-20 season. The Maroon and Gray leads the all-time series 5-2 over FSU, with the two losses coming on the road away from the Carter Center. When CU and Frostburg State met in Bobcat Arena last winter, the Mountain Lions charged a comeback after a 15-point halftime deficit to force overtime. In the overtime period, CU outscored the Bobcats 14-3 to win their first road game over FSU in program history. Concord took care of business in the Carter Center as well, cruising to a 77-57 victory over Frostburg State in Athens. Smith led CU in scoring in both games, putting up 16 and 18 points. Sophomore forward Abbie Smith also scored in double-digits in both games, while Alexis Phillips notched 11 points going 3-of-3 from three-point range.

STAR WATCH
Frostburg State sophomore forward Emilee Weakley was the number one scorer in Division II last season, averaging 25.5 points per game. As a freshman, Weakley broke the FSU and MEC single-season scoring record, finishing with 766 points total for the 2022-23 season. She earned the honors of All-MEC First Team, MEC Freshman of the Year, as well as NCAA DII Freshman of the Year. In CU's first meeting against Weakley at Bobcat Arena last winter, the Mountain Lions held her to 18 points on 7-of-23 from the field, her sixth lowest total last season. Weakley scored 27 points against Concord in the Carter Center. Through just four games this season, Weakley is averaging 29.0 points per game including a 40-point performance against Charleston on November 29.
