GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team scored once in each half as it downed Glenville State, 2-0, in a Mountain East Conference contest at Morris Stadium Wednesday night.
The first goal came in the 22
nd minute when a deflected cross from sophomore forward
Caitlin Webster landed on the foot of freshman midfielder
Wilma Hedenberg from just outside the penalty box. Hedenberg put her fifth goal of the season in the back of the net.

Jessica Neville had a pair of shots saved from distance as she threatened to double the CU (11-5-2, 10-4-1 MEC) lead in the 66
th and 78
th minutes. But, it wasn't until the 84
th minute when the Mountain Lions scored.
After a giveaway by Glenville State (5-10-3, 3-10-2 MEC)Â in the midfield, junior midfielder
Leah Fleming dashed into the attacking third and pushed a pass between two defenders to junior forward
Sydney Tucker who deposited her 10
th goal of the fall into the bottom right corner of the net.
Less than two minutes later, GSU banged a shot off the crossbar, and junior goalkeeper
Savannah Bates was pressed into action to secure a save in the 88
th minute to keep the shutout intact.
The Mountain Lions were outshot in the game 13-8 while GSU pushed eight shots on goal compared to CU's five. Bates made a career-best eight saves for the shutout.
Neville (three) and Tuckers (two) combined for five shots.
Concord owned a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
CU welcomes West Liberty to the YMCA Cline Complex in Beckley, West Virginia for the MEC Tournament Quarterfinal 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
