ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team plays its final two regular season home games when it welcomes Davis & Elkins to the YMCA Cline Complex in Beckley 1:00 p.m. Wednesday before hosting nationally-ranked Charleston 1:00 p.m. Sunday in a pair of Mountain East Conference games.

CLOSE CALLS
The last two games for the Mountain Lions have resulted in  2-1 score lines as CU erased a 1-0 halftime deficit at West Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday to defeat the Bobcats by a goal. Junior forward
Sydney Tucker was responsible for both goals as she registered her second brace of the season. Tucker leads Concord with eight goals this season. Junior forward
Nora Voisey tallied her third assist of the season on Tucker's second goal. On Sunday, the Maroon and Gray was unable to rebound from two early goals by West Virginia State as it lost on the road. Freshman midfielder
Katie Garratt notched her third goal of the season. Eight of the 15 games for CU this season have been decided by a goal or ended in a tie.
BACK ON TRACK
After Sunday's tough result, Concord seeks a season sweep of Davis & Elkins after winning 5-1 at D&E in the second conference game of the season. Graduate midfielder

Caitlin Webster also scored in the contest. Since 2019—the last seven games—Concord has outscored Davis & Elkins 26-6. The only Davis & Elkins win in that time came last season, 2-1, in Beckley. CU seeks to remain unbeaten at home this season at 6-0.
MATCHING THE BEST
Sunday will be the second time this season that the Mountain Lions oppose Charleston when the Golden Eagles are nationally-ranked. In September, UC was 17
th in Division II as Concord fell 3-0 on the road. Charleston enters Sunday with a national ranking of ninth. From 2017-21, the Mountain Lions were 8-2-1 against UC, but have lost three of the last four against Charleston. CU did defeat Charleston on the road last season as junior midfielder
Leah Fleming scored in the 54
th minute in a 1-0 victory. Sunday will be the fourth time in the last 26 games that Concord takes on a nationally-ranked team after opening the year with Kutztown and playing Frostburg State in October last year.

SCOUTING THE SENATORS
Davis & Elkins has not won since September 27 when it picked off Salem, 8-1. The last time that D&E picked up points was in a 2-2 tie with Fairmont State October 14. Alexa Karsel who scored for the Senators versus Concord in September has netted a team-best nine goals in 2023, tied for third in the MEC. Madison Rose has scored three times. Gabriela Acevedo has spent more than 1,000 minutes in goal, sporting a goals-against average of 2.96.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
The only ties for Charleston this season were 1-1 draws against Kutztown August 31 and West Virginia State September 24. The most recent win for UC was a 4-0 decision over West Virginia Wesleyan Sunday. One of Division II's most powerful offenses, Charleston has scored 59 times this fall while only allowing six goals. Sophia Mankowski leads the attack with nine goals while Juliette Lucas, who scored twice versus Concord, has totaled eight goals. Lina Jaime adds seven goals and an MEC-best eight assists.
