SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Concord University men's soccer team finished in a 0-0 draw with Notre Dame Sunday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference tilt at Mueller Field.
The story of the game was sophomore goalkeeper
Keegan Grant making a career-best 12 saves to maintain the scoreless tie with the Falcons (7-1-2, 4-1-2 MEC).
Grant was called upon to stop six shots in the first half as Concord (2-2-4, 0-2-4 MEC) only took one shot in the opening 45 minutes.
However, the Mountain Lions found their shooting boots in the second half as they tallied seven shots with four on goal. The biggest surge from the Maroon and Gray came with under 15 minutes remaining in the contest.
Sophomore midfielder
Tomas Kelly had a shot saved in the 79
th minute, and just 20 seconds later redshirt freshman midfielder
Matthew Sale got a shot off. Sale was able to get another attempt toward the goal in the 80
th minute.
CU peppered the goal with a shot on goal from junior midfielder
Andre Nicholson in the 83
rd minute. And Kelly had a look at the target in the 85
th minute.
Each goalkeeper made a save in the final five minutes to keep the game level at 0-0.
Grant faced 25 shots in total as he collected his third shutout of the season.
Kelly, Nicholson and Sale all took three shots for Concord.
The Mountain Lions host Wheeling at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in a conference contest.
